Hello Miners!

You are probably here because you have some more questions about the Community Trailer Competition (and if you dont know what that is, read about it here)

FAQ

Q: Can we use more than one of the tracks?
A: Yes. One of the tracks should work as the base, but mixing it won’t disqualify your submission.

Q: Can we use bits of other music (eg. jukebox, old tracks, voice lines, etc)
A: No to the old tracks and jukebox, but feel free to use other sounds and voice lines from Deep Rock Galactic. We have gathered a small package of sound bits that you can use for this trailer. You can access it here.

Q: Who’s the target audience?
A: Think of this as a trailer by the community to the community. You want to show what Deep Rock is to you. The winner will likely also get exposed outside our fan community and will hopefully create even more awareness of the upcoming 1.0 launch.

Q: Can we splice the four music pieces together?
A: Yes, but it will probably work best if one music piece is the dominant one

Q: If there is a way to use some sort of free camera for the shots, would that be okay to use?
A: Yes, you could use Nvidia Ansel for this.

Q: Does it have to be Update 29 content only?
A: Yes, but we’re not going to meticulously examine the footage for inconsistencies. If you already have a good shot, that is indistinguishable from Update 29, we’ll probably never notice.

Q: Can we use the experimental build?
A: Yes.

Q: Is it okay to use the voice lines of Mission Control and is there a way to get them?
A: Yes, you can use voice lines of Mission Control and the Dwarves. For now, you will have to clean them out from your own recordings, but we are working on release a package with voice-lines and sfx that can be used in the videos for this competition.

Q: How strict are you on the minimum and maximum length?
A: The guidelines are there to keep the videos within a reasonable scope. In the end, we’ll evaluate the videos based on content, not on whether or not it falls within limits. Obviously two minutes is too much, so keeping it close to the specified length would be appreciated.

Q: And am I allowed to use the animated title roll (danger, darkness, dwarves animated) used in DRG trailers, or am I restricted to making my own?
A: Yes, you can use the animated DRG title. We might replace it with a custom one if your video ends up as one of the winners.

Q: Are we allowed to create and use other assets, like text and art?
A: Yes, feel free to add text or art on top of the trailer (or in break screens), as long as it is yours. You can also use some of the art in the press kit folder

Q: Can I submit more than one trailer?
A: Yes, but you must submit it under a different login. Please notify us if this simply replaces a previous submission.
